I’m of the opinion that during the past, I really didn’t.. When I initially began playing I used to be a maniac! I had no real structure to my practice. I just put in the hours and was hoping that I got better. And I did! But there had been a difficulty. I practiced something else most every day. My practice ’schedule’ modified from one day to the next. This made 2 major negative side effects.. One. Sore hands.

For instance, I might regularly go so berserk on alternate picking exercises that my picking wrist would get stupendously sore.

It might be so sore that I could not practice alternate picking the following day. So what did I am doing? I then went insane with legato exercises. So much in order that I would not be in a position to practice legato the following day. So I went back to my faithful alternate picking. Mmmm…there’s a pattern developing here. :- ) two.

Slower Progress. I progressed quicker than any of my friends.

But I definitely do not think I progressed at my fastest possible rate. If I had practiced less on an exercise, but did it each day I’m sure my progress would be quicker.
