Since Ace is the highest ranked card in poker, these jeux de casino players love to get it. Some players will go into a pot with any Ace, a very loose and most often losing proposition. Then there are players who are more deliberate about playing an Ace, and will only do so based on the kicker or if it is suited.

Some Aces are stronger than others. If it is suited with 5 and lower, or 10 and higher, then there are straight opportunities too. Other kicker cards, 6-9, even though suited, do not make a strong hand, but one that is drawing to a lucky board.

Choosing to enter the pot with an Ace can put a poker online player in a tricky situation. If an Ace or the kicker card materializes on the board, betting is sometimes the right choice, especially from late position. But beware the board that has already paired, or is shaping up to a flush or straight. The Ace could be easily beaten. For some it is impossible to lay down an Ace, especially if it pairs the board. Before entering a pot with an Ace, first consider if you will be able to fold it instead of making crying calls only see your chips shipped to another player. If you can’t lay down a weak Ace once the action goes against you, then don’t enter the pot in the first place.
